Gilgit—Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) here on Monday passed three resolutions on three different issues with overwhelming majority. The session inaugurated with recitation from Holy Quran. First resolution was tabled by Advisor to Chief Minister Saadia Zia and denounced PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif, who had sought dissolution of all assemblies as her resolution termed this as anti-democracy. The resolution did not earn favor of PML-Q and some independent members yet it was approved by overwhelming majority.
The second resolution was presented by Deputy Speaker Jamil Ahmed, who thanked Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani for declaring Gilgit as capital of the region, as the resolution was endorsed by majority of the house. The third resolution was tabled by member Mirza Hussain to condemn the killing of two people in Hunza by police.
The resolution demanded to lodge cases against police officials under terrorism acts. The resolution was approved unanimously. Minister for law Wazir Shakil said that there should be cases against those who torched the public infrastructures. Speaker Wazir Baig appealed Chief Minister Mehdi Shah to terminate these type of administrations which was causing such situation.
Speaking on the floor Chief Minister said the government is maintaining law & order situation and stern action would be taken against law breakers. He said the recommendations of Parliamentary committee would be implemented in letter and spirit. The session was adjourned to meet on Tuesday.—APP
