Islamabad (RP): Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs‚ Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan‚ Saleem Saifullah Khan has said autonomy to Gilgit Baltistan in accordance with the aspirations of its people‚ would remove their sense of deprivation.
He was talking to a delegation of students from Federal Government College Aliabad‚ Hunza (Gilgit Baltistan) at the Parliament House. Saleem Saifullah said the 18th amendment is a milestone which paved way towards provincial autonomy and National Finance Award.
He said the demand for new provinces was getting strong and called for setting up a commission to discuss the matter if it could resolve the problems of the people.
Senator Saifullah said his committee was interested in resolving the problems of Gilgit Baltistan and intended to visit the area to know the issues confronting the locals.
He said the people of Gilgit Baltistan were patriot and peace-loving and had commendable contribution towards development of the country.
