ISLAMABAD (APP): A number of visitors thronged to the `7th NUML Sales Gala 2012′ started here Saturday, displaying amazing variety of dresses, jewelry, handicrafts and items of daily use at nominal prices.
The two-day sales gala was organized by Faculty of Management Sciences of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) at a local hotel where over 35 stalls were set up.
The event was inaugurated by Senior Vice President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Raja Amir Iqbal and aimed at providing opportunity to the marketing students for showing their entrepreneurial skills.
The students of MBA and BBA (Marketing) and Mass Communication showcased different products, including garments, jewelry, handicrafts, antiques and paintings, greeting cards, stuff toys, photo albums, employing their entrepreneurial skills to market their products.
The students belonging to the different provinces including Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan exhibited their own cultural products including traditional dresses, warm shawls and shoes.
The students briefed about the utility of the exhibited items in a skillful manner to sell their product, which was quite convincing for the visitors.
“Every product is marvelous especially handmade candle baskets, candles in sea-shells, candle flowers and replicas of auto rickshaws, hand pumps and Minar-e-Pakistan are a source of attraction for every visitor”, a visitor Sajid Abbasi said.
“Such exhibitions must be arranged to encourage the creative students so that they can utilize their energies toward constructive purposes and get recognitions”, he said.
The dresses were much inexpensive as compared to various markets of the capital and ranged between Rs500 to Rs3000.
“I bought two dresses and some jewelry for Rs2200”, Asma Khan said.
A stall of Gilgit Baltistan students displaying shawls and caps for men and unique stones of various zodiac signs also attracted the visitors.
“There is no shortcut in the field of business as it is most complicated and least compromising field and only dedication and honesty can bring success”, he said.
Rector NUML, Major Gen (r) Masood Hasan said that arranging sales gala is the regular feature of the university to boost the marketing skills of the students.
The university will continue to provide the students such platforms where they can show their creative skills, he said.
