Gilgit-Baltistan: GB CM meets Deputy Speaker National Assembly

ISLAMABAD (APP): Deputy Speaker, National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday said the present Parliament has done record legislation including the historic 18th and 19th constitutional amendments. During a meeting with Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Syed Mehdi Shah, the Deputy Speaker also discussed matters pertaining to legislation and developmental projects in GB. He told the Chief Minister GB that the parliament had paid special heed to vulnerable segments of the society especially women, children and minorities and more than two dozen bills were passed to empower the women and protect rights of women and minorities.
Appreciating the role of opposition in the present Parliament, the Deputy Speaker said that opposition had played very positive and constructive role in the Parliament and majority of laws passed in the parliament with consensus.
Apprising the CM about legislative process and organizational set up in the National Assembly the Deputy Speaker has said that well equipped and up-to-date research centre and library have been established in the National Assembly to support the parliamentarian in legislative matters.
He extended all out support of National Assembly Secretariat to staff of GB Assembly and hoped that under the leadership of the Chief Minister GB would lead to progress and prosperity.
Syed Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister GB said that uplift and welfare of masses and provision of basic amenities to them at their door steps was the top priority of his Government.
He said that several developmental projects have been initiated in GB since it has been given the status of province.
He appreciated the role of Deputy Speaker in conducting the proceedings of the National Assembly and extended him invitation to visit GB.
The Deputy Speaker assured the Chief Minister that along with the delegation of Young Parliamentarian Forum he will visit GB very soon.
